Megan Thee Stallion debuts her long awaited studio Album Good News
Well, it’s finally here. The long awaited debut Album from Houston Rapper, Megan Thee Stallion. Despite having at least five projects on streaming platforms, fans were even so exhilarated for her Major Label debut. This 17-track project was released Nov. 20 and includes guest appearances from DaBaby, City Girls, Lil Durk, SZA, Popcaan, Mustard, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Beyoncé, and Young Thug.
The Album starts off with the song, Shots Fired”, which samples the ever so infamous Notorious B.I.G song; “Who Shot Ya” . First and foremost, Megan rides every single 90’s and/ or 2000’s Hip-Hop beat. Just youtube her freestyles and listen to her keep cadance with beats like; “All Eyez On Me”, “Between the Sheets” & “Hit Em Up”. It could be because she gains momentous influence from 90’s rappers’; like Pimp C and more, but this Woman is definitely an MC, in her own right.
The Next 16 tracks are objectively hit or miss. It solely depends on the sound preference of the listener, and the value of art is determined by the interpreter. Meg ensures to include her commercially successful songs, “Savage Remix” (ft Beyonce) and “Don’t Stop” (ft. Young Thug,) as a subtle reminder of her viable talent.
“Do It on the Tip” (ft City Girls) and “Freaky Girls” (ft SZA) are a perfect balance of man-eater shitting talking galore, with the ever so present flirty, animated enchantments.
She unveiled her fiery attitude in her track “Movie” (Ft Lil Durk). The raunchy fire esque lyrics , that she is known and admired for, are on full display and sermonizes sexual liberation for all to enjoy.
It is apparent that Meg is being experimental with her sound, as seen on reggae influenced track “Intercourse” (ft. Popcaan & Mustard) and attempted pop(rap?) song “Don’t Rock Me to SLeep.” Even so, she has emerged into this industry already solidifying her place as a rapper, so experimentation is expected.
We are rooting for Megan Thee Stallion!
