Future and Lil Uzi Vert Transcend into Two Seperate Celestial Beings on Joint Album-Pluto x Baby Pluto
Lil Uzi had a celebratory year, releasing his long awaited studio album “Eternal Atake” in March. And Future is known for being plentiful with his music, but nonetheless his 8th studio Album “High Off Life”, released in May and was unsurprisingly a major success .
In late July, the pair posted visual teasers, directed by none other than the Blue-Hue genius Hype Williams, and proceeded with the release of two dismaying singles “Patek” and “Over Your Head”. By Nov. 11, they announced their joint project, and two days later the, 16-track list was available on streaming.
Future has a sound that usually blends well with other artist, with a successful collaborative portfolio that extends to both musicians and producers. Uzi’s versatility is never overlooked;with him possessing a rap rockstar-esque persona, it is hard to not be captivated.
The project is rather unnatural but still exemplar to the gaudy nature Future and Lil Uzi embrace in their music. It almost sounds as if majority of the songs were recorded in separate booths; as if they are sonically mismatched. The rappers previous collaborations (Too Much Sauce) and such, anticipated listeners to a more lucid, explorative collaboration.
The two went in the reliable direction by including solo tracks, Rockstar Chainz (Future )and Lullaby (Lil Uzi Vert). Future raps about his reclusive attitude towards others, the luxuries of life and spoiling his shorty[s], all on a Torey Montana beat. Uzi’s track includes production from DY Krazy and and Bobby Raps while rapping about his destructible behavior and rock relations with his girl. (?)
Stripes Like Burberry models the overall direction, or indirection for the collaborative efforts on the project. The tracks lack in synergy, as if both artist recorded their versus separately and dropped them on whatever song fits. On majority of the tracks, Uzi will lead the song with one or two verses, and Future will follow up and finish it. But it is evident that they, in no way, were feeding off each others energy. It all sounds so inorganic.
Their Joint project did not provide enough listening value. The absence of any collaborative effort makes the Deluxe to the already lengthy project uninteresting.
