It’s Up & It’s Stuck in Cardi B’s Latest Music Video
Cardi B and the ‘B’ stands for BUDGET. Her visuals are notably powerhouse productions with impressive graphics and imagination. Brimmed with artistry and expressive elements; like the sand dunes of Dubai in Bodack Yellow and the Gold plated vaults in Money, her videos remain alluring.
Even with her most recent single/video W.A.P.- she delivered a top of the line visual to match the provocative expressiveness of the track. Her and first time collaborator Meg The Stallion paraded through a fun house, with a mystery behind each door- including Zebra and Cheetah themed chambers and a magnetic Green-Purple Room.
The artist continues to captivate fans with the release of her new single, “Up”, and cleverly paired it with another tantalizing video. The visual direction falls nothing short of a raunchy-lurid theme, a vivid parallel to the rappers personality. It begins at a gravesite, with Cardi B in her Louboutins, posing in front of a headstone marked “RIP 2020”, officially laying that horrid year to rest. The rest of the video consists of her mimicking the “Spirit of Ecstasy”, dancing in an intensely pink room and a huge suggestive oyster- where she is locking lips with other beautiful women.
It appears that Cardi B had every intention to pop her shit when making “Up”. After being canceled many times over and having #CardiBisCancelledParty trend relentlessly on twitter, it seems that the intent of this song was to talk shit and show out. As she said on her live prior to the video debut, she wanted a more hood song- as she felt that her “ last song was too sexy,”.
She gained inspiration from Offset, constantly saying “Up and Stuck”, and from there she formulated her gangsta track. As the chorus suggests,
“If it’s up, then it’s up, then it’s up, then it’s stuck,” -
Cardi is dismissing all critics who have issues with how she moves. From the “bitches” who call her ugly, but whose man still wants to seduce her- to the bitches whose breath smells like “Horse shit”, anyone can get it.
