Ma Rainey’s Untold Tale comes to Netflix.
Tune in to Netflix December 18th, to watch the beautiful story of Gertrude “Ma Rainey” Pridgett, in film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. The film made a limited Theatrical run November 25th, and was met with high critical acclaim .
Ma Rainey was born in Columbus, Ga in 1886, and found a passion for singing at an early age. Her sound expression is noted as a fluctuation between the art of burlesque and the early symphonies of Southern Blues. Rainey was a powerhouse, with a distinguished voice and sound- which affirmed her the title “The Mother of the Blues”.
Netflix incorporates a trailblazing cast in this adaptation. Acclaimed award Winner Viola Davis, is set to portray the life of MA Rainey. The film also includes the talents of Glynn Turman, Taylour Paige and Colman Domingo.
The beautiful late Chadwick Boseman is included in the makings of this film and is woefully one of his final roles.
(Rest Eternally Beautifully CB).
Boseman and Davis acting alongside one another is to ensure a powerful representation of Black Art by Black Artist. It is of no wonder how both will be able to captivate the tale of Ma Rainey, and her life as a performer during the most trivial times in american History
